Born free to run, free to roam
Happiness and glee all in one
Playful prances almost a dance
Proud spirits and beautiful souls
Run across the prairie, across the plateau
Until they are taken down too soon, too cold.
Helicopters on high, men without heart
Equipped with long-range rifles to do their part
Instructed by the BLM or their evil cohorts
Once to native tribes now to America’s horse.
Wild mustangs, noble, independent and free
Shot down, chased down or rounded up,
Pick the poison that is done for Satan’s will
All ways lead to destruction, lead to death,
Slaughter first or without shelter in winter freeze,
Little foals, little souls–just like our own babies.
How anyone can do that and go on all the same
Horribly twisted as if some unbelievably bizarre game.
I pity such a sad life without a glimpse of a soul
Yet I pity more the horse that has no choice
While all good men do nothing still
Evil can flourish and always will.

Two Wild Horses How proud you stand my dynamic steed
How very blessed I am to have you here
Eyes that triumph with one quick glance
A heart that soars with a fleeting prance
How beautiful you are, how free your spirit
How thankful am I to intercede
Let all know, all hear, all believe
Our wild horses are ours to keep free
Under our care, under our guidance
Lead us not deceive them to despair
More valued than diamonds, rubies or pearls
They are our heritage, they were our life
To turn a blind eye would be a crime
They depend on us but they are our reward
To have a spirit that runs wild and free
To have a life complete in perfect harmony

The Unavenged November 27, 2009

Cursed be the soul that hung you up
Cursed be the soul that slit your throat
How wicked the heart that made you meat
How ignorant, how cruel, how very deplete
You, God’s creature, divinely designed
To be a help to man, to carry him through
To now be an uncaring one’s warm stew
How that could happen to a soul as kind as you
So beyond belief, so beyond reason
Once tall, once shimmering under the sun
Once moonbeams reflecting off your coat
Once wind flowing through your mane
Once hearts delighted at your sight
Now horrified by your untimely demise
Now greatly disturbed by your murder
How cursed the many souls that brought you down
May God enlighten them to what they have done
Perhaps God may forgive these treacherous souls
Perhaps God may embrace these tortured souls
And give of His love, His love untold
But I cannot forgive, nor can I rest
‘Til every last one is exposed in this ring of death.

Alone in a field, a paddock, stall or lot
From where does thy nurturing come
A kind touch, a gentle thought,
Cool water, warm straw, oats and grain
Or left alone, bound by the human handlers
How does that fragile heart keep hope alive
Relying on the kindness of those in control
Deciding on how well to be kept or how badly
Yet when greeted by these curious creatures
That are your handlers, give them a soulful eye
A soft nudge, a gentle neigh,
How truly gracious and magnificent you are
To give and give not based on cause
To give the unbridled love you freely share
To want only a kind hand, a loving heart
To be the best you can for our poor souls
To love us without question, to stand alone
Alone in a field, a paddock, stall or lot.
