| FADED RECALL Why are reflections always so fond, Memories more beautiful than when real, Moments remembered lovelier than lived, While thoughts revived are just as painful, And do not seem to fade or be easily forgot, Why do things seem what they were not? |
SONNET: FOND REFLECTIONS Lights that shine upon the water Glimmer softly, glimmer low How their spell so well invites me How sweetly, how delightful To make me think of thoughts of old, Too soon wisdom fades, too soon, too old To make use of its language cold Too many tears cried too heavy To think of happiness and to grin, However, still we shall win As former thoughts turn back again Back to spring, back to fall Back to where our hearts were walls That kept all the river’s water in. © Debra J Stuart 2011 Worldwide.
